The room representing the place of birth of Ivo Andrić, is decorated with the traditional, typical period furniture belonging to urban Bosnian families at the end of the 19th Century.
The ethnographic pieces did not actually belong to Andrić’s family, but rather were manufactured at the time of his birth.
The furniture shows Ottoman influence – decorative tables, chests, sofas, earth stove, lamps, Bosnian coverings and a carpet.
In The Birth Room, a short biography of the Nobel Prize winner is displayted, as well as the birth certificate and the baptism certificate from the St. John the Baptist Church, with the details of Andrić’s birth and origins.
