The subject of “Ivo Andrić and Travnik” shows the history of the time when Andrić was forced into exile in the village of Ovčarevo near Travnik, and of his life with the Franciscan monks in the Church of St. Michael during 1915.
The photographs show little-known details from the writer’s life as well as his social engagement from 1945 to 1950 as the Member of Parliament for the Travnik constituency, and the atmosphere during his last visit to his city of birth in 1972.
The copies of the painter Zuko Džumhur’s drawings, with which the artist had illustrated Andrić’s short story “The Tale of the Vizier’s Elephant” show the author’s fascination for, and his literary thematizing of his homeland.
