{"id":624,"date":"2014-09-11T08:20:46","date_gmt":"2014-09-11T08:20:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/muzejtravnik.ba\/en\/web\/?page_id=624"},"modified":"2015-02-03T10:54:06","modified_gmt":"2015-02-03T08:54:06","slug":"sadtzaji","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/muzejtravnik.ba\/en\/tvrdava-stari-grad\/sadtzaji\/","title":{"rendered":"Attractions of Medieval fortress"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Having been promulgated as a national monument in 2005, the Old Town was systematically restored.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The Old Town is completely open to visitors. In the summer various events are organized as a part of the \u201cSummer in the Old Town\u201d manifestation. In the improvised medieval market called \u201cGarbun\u201d there is a summer garden with a souvenir shop, and in the lower garden there is a stage with auditorium.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">After the thorough restoration of the tower and the powder-store with a plateau, in there are two permanent exhibitions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #993300;\">The Polygonal Tower<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #993300;\">Ethnographic exposition \u201cThe Folk Culture of the Travnik Area\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">On the ground floor of the section with its sixteent angles is situated an ethnographic exhibition named \u201cThe Folk Culture of the Travnik Area\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The exhibition has been adjusted to the space in such a way that on the larger wall spaces the photograph boards are a continuation of the wall cabinets.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The wall spaces between the ancient crenels (loopholes) have been used for the wall cabinets where the traditional clothing of all three ethnicities of this area is on display.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">In the five ground cabinets there are tools and utensils that the villagers used for different needs in their daily life: construction works and food-making, clothing, crockery, stock farming and food production, especially milk &#8211; for example the traditional Travnik and Vla\u0161i\u0107 cheeses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">The copies of the photographs in the museum library displayed on the boards above the cabinets show typical examples of traditional engineering, and those of village houses of Central Bosnia (\u201cdimalu\u010dara\u201d, \u201cdvobojka\u201d, \u201c\u010dardaklija\u201d), as well as field work (sowing, threshing), sheep grazing etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">A special segment is dedicated to the millennia-old way of making earthenware at the hand wheel, still practiced by Refik Deli\u0107, the last earthenware maker in the village of Pulac near Travnik.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">In the carved wooden chest woven towels for everyday use are exhibitede, but also for the home decoration for newlyweds. The two smaller cabinets contain wooden objects decorated with motifs of popular ornamentation (distaff, manger, pincushions, earmarks etc.) used for daily chores, while some of the objects have a ritualistic function as well and testify of religious and spiritual life and widespread folk beliefs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Next to the entrance, on the left\u2013hand side, there is a small stand where copperware and objects used for open hearth cooking are displayed, as well as other objects for everyday use, such as \u201cdubak\u201d (children\u2019s manger), \u201cjand\u017eik\u201d (sackcloth bag), saddlebags, cuffs etc.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">On the right-hand side, under the staircase, a traditional loom with inserted calico is displayed (\u201c\u0107ere\u0107e\u201d). On the floor, decorated with a sheet, there are examples of wooden crockery for making and keeping the dairy products, and the tools used for making the crockery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">A special part of the exhibition is dedicated to the traditional village clothing of all three ethnicities living in this area. The clothes are represented in pairs, one male and one female. Croatian and Serbian clothing kept its typical elements of the Dinara region (male and female embroidered blouses, woven wool aprons, embroidered head scarves, doublets made of cloth etc.). In the Bosniak village clothing there is a dominant influence of the oriental urban wear (\u201cdimije\u201d, \u201c\u0107ere\u0107e\u201d \u2013 thin cotton cloth used for shirts, waistcoats, \u201cje\u010derme\u201d, headwear like \u201cjemenije\u201d and fezzes, slacks and dolmans etc.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #993300;\">Permanent exhibition \u201cAntiquity and Natural Rarities of the Travnik Region\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">Following the circular route and looking at pictures and texts in the cabinets, a visitor goes through a historical story on past civilizations, the shifts and intertwining of different cultures in these regions. Through the most characteristic examples of mobile excavations and architectural heritage, one has the opportunity to experience the historical narrative of these areas, but also to get to know rarities and characteristic vegetational and animal species, as well as geographic peculiarities through the layout relief of Travnik municipality at the center of the room.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/muzejtravnik.ba\/en\/images\/stories\/slike\/img_0028.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"499\" height=\"373\" border=\"0\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Powder-store<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">In the arched powder-store various events are held (workshops, lectures, chamber concerts), but also different exhibitions throughout the year, such as \u201cThe Old Town \u2013 the process of restoration and revitalization\u201d. This documentary exhibition originated in 2010 and every year it was supplemented with new photographs on the restoration process before the fort\u2019s reconstruction and after its completion.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/muzejtravnik.ba\/en\/images\/stories\/slike\/hpim4466.jpg\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #993300;\"><strong>Cafe &amp; Souvenir Shop \u201cGarbun\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">There is no better way to relax, after sightseeing the Regional Museum of Travnik exhibitions, than to be refreshed by a cup of Bosnian coffee and eventually to summarize the impressions of Travnik, the town with a rich and peculiar past.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; color: #000000;\">A protective fence on the southwest wall has been constructed so that drawings of archaeological excavations from Travnik and its surroundings are drawn on glass partitions.
