The \u201cOld Town\u201d fortress is one of the most beautiful and best preserved medieval fortified buildings in Bosnia where historical periods left their distinctive characteristics.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are no records in so far known historiographical sources of the year and duration of construction or its builder. Historians agree that the fortress was built in the second half of the 14th<\/sup> or the first half of the 15th<\/sup> century. Regarding its construction and other indications, it is assumed that it was built by King Tvrtko II Kotromani\u0107 but historians also believe that the possible builder was King Stefan Dabi\u0161a.<\/span><\/p>\n

The present appearance of the walls and the fort itself is the result of interventions of Turkish masters of military fortifications.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the period from 1st<\/sup> April to 31st<\/sup> October, the \u201cOld Town\u201d fortress is open for visitors <\/span><\/strong>
\n every day from 8:00 to 20:00 <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
